- Launched by the Ministry of Education (formerly MHRD) in 2015
to rank institutions across the country.
Objectives:
- To promote competitive excellence among Indian higher
education institutions.
- To provide a framework for ranking colleges and universities
on various performance parameters.
Functions:
- Ranking: Provides rankings based
on criteria such as teaching, learning resources, research, outreach, and
perception.
- Transparency and Accountability:
Encourages institutions to be transparent in their functioning.
- Guidance for Students: Helps students identify
top-performing institutions.
- Annual Evaluation: Publishes rankings
annually, covering various categories like universities, engineering, management,
and medical institutions.
